Ra One Hindi Film

Ra One Hindi Film
The stakes are at an all-time high. In less than a week, viewers will get to experience an extravagant movie experience in the form of Ra.One! In the pipeline since the past several years, the film unfortunately has loads and loads of obstacles in its path.

The film has met with mixed response ever since the first poster and promo was unveiled in the beginning of 2011. Many thrashed SRK, saying he was just not right to play a superhero. The high-octance action scenes were ridiculed, calling it a rip-off from Hollywood blockbusters and also Robot! Moreover, the director (Anubhav Sinha) doesn’t exude confidence as his last film Cash was a disaster.

Though the actual cost of the film is unclear, it is easily somewhere around 145-160 crores with as much as 20-25 crores spent on publicity. This makes Ra.One the most expensive Hindi film till date! And with such mixed response to promos, whether the film will be able to recover the entire amount is a hot topic of debate everywhere. Moreover, SRK’s counterparts – Salman and Aamir – have given bigshot blockbusters in the form of 3 Idiots, Dabangg and Bodyguard which have had terrific collections. Ra.One has the pressure to be able to reach to that level.

However, there’s also a certain section of audience that is extremely excited for the film. And why not! After all, Shah Rukh Khan is ‘Baadshah of Bollywood’ and has consistently given some of the best films. In the past, he was similarly ridiculed for playing hockey coach in Chak De! India and developmentally delayed patient in My Name Is Khan. But he succeeded in both the films with Chak De counted as a cult film today. In short, his film choices have been the best because of which he’s such a respected star today! And if he has invested so much in Ra.One, it must be for a reason. And as just mentioned, if SRK’s glorious history is anything to go by, Ra.One will surely succeed in giving topnotch entertainment!

The songs of the film have been loved by all, even by its critics. Chammak Challo has become a rage ever since it got leaked! Raftaarein too has been adored. The film astonished one and all when Rajinikanth agreed to do a cameo in the film, inspite of his ill-health. Moreover, there’s also Sanjay Dutt, Priyanka Chopra in cameo and Amitabh Bachchan’s voiceover in the film. Again, this has been criticized as a move to grab eyeballs but has helped the film to be in news nonetheless!

The new promo which finally shows the real Ra.One, Arjun Rampal, has been appreciated immensely. In fact, many of my friends and acquaintances are now excited to see the film after having a dekko at this latest promo!

I’ve often said that a good film needs good response to sustain. Ra.One will be no exception. The hype surrounding the film will ensure that it takes a record-breaking opening when it releases next Wednesday. However, from then on, it’s the response that will count. A negative word of mouth will spell disaster for the film (we all witnessed how Rascals excelled on Thursday release but fell next day).

With Ra.One, something new and interesting is definitely been attempted. Let’s hope it’s well made…let’s hope it succeeds! Let the GAME begin!
